Very American influenced feeling to this city, it felt different than every other place I've been in Mexico so far. Made me think I was back in the US already. Lots of trees in the city, lots of familiar brands, and a large English/Spanish mix in the posters, business naming, and people.

Another gulf gas port, but with a big beachfront. Lots of beach huts and palapas that you can pay for during the high season or just go sit at and enjoy in the off season. Enjoyed a beer on the beach watching kids, crabs, and the water.

Stayed at a Hilton overlooking the port and beach here. Another port city with a lot of goods, sailors, and other transport activity happening. Modern feeling city otherwise.

Stayed at a nice hotel on the river which was the perfect spot in this town. This is a oil/gas port otherwise and not somewhere I would probably want to hang around.

Came through here to cross the border into Guatemala. Paperwork for truck wasn't right, and had to turn around at this point. Painful day of border antics, but lesson learned on spending much more time making sure all the i's are dotted and t's crossed for future attempts.

Vacation town known for its surfing. Beautiful beaches and more diversity than I've seen in Mexico so far since tourists are drawn from all areas of the world to the beaches along this area from Acapulco south. The drive here from Oaxaca was EXCITING. Mountain passes, lots of curves, questionable roads in some spots. Also got to see where all the marigolds were growing south of Oaxaca for dia de los muertos!

Texmelucan

Very alive city on the weekend for dia de los muertos and halloween celebrations. Kids enjoying trick or treating around town, motorcycle parade, and costumes all around.

Jala

Very cute, romantic town to visit for a night - in the hills coming out of the mountain passes between Tepic and Guadalajara. Beautiful area!

Entered Mexico (all automated, didn't talk to anyone!) and drove some back roads that turned into complete off-roading. Jeep is key! Made it through sandy washes and more to get over to Puerto Libertad for the evening. Enjoyed tacos and mineral water lemonades for dinner.

Bringing the cats to my aunt and uncle's house to stay while traveling with the jeep only. Susan and Steven will be providing a wonderful environment for Skittles and Luna while I'm gone, but I'll miss them dearly!

Overnight stop with the cats in a hotel. They did alright on the drive, but kept me up most of the night in the hotel room with meows and antics.
